How to Freeze Berries

Whether we grow our own, pick them at a farm or buy them at a market, many of us will be deluged with berries this summer. Unfortunately when you just throw them in a bag and freeze them they stick together and turn to mush.

Here’s a simple technique to use with berries that will help them freeze better. Just line a cookie sheet with parchment or waxed paper and scatter the berries you want to freeze on it in a single layer. The less they touch one another the more intact they’ll stay. Then put the cookie sheet in the freezer. After a few hours, take it out and put the frozen berries into the container you want to store them in, put that in the freezer and you’ll be all set.
